To repeat, as some people keep repeating the suggestion that the Jolla phone shows 4G when it actually operates on 5G: That is not the problem that this topic is about. I have never, ever, anywhere, gotten 5G speeds with the Jolla phone. Connection on 4G is flaky and speeds are nowhere near 5G.
The problem is not “Jolla phone says 4G but it’s really 5G”.
The problem is “the Jolla phone does not support 5G”.
As a bonus, staying on 4G saves a lot of battery compared to 5G NSA!
If I wanted a 4G phone that cannot connect to 5G, I’d have bought a 4G phone. You get a 5G phone because you need the speeds of 5G, which the Jolla phone I received does not offer.
yes, it is defenitelly set to prefer 5G on both SIM cards. Selecting and deselecting of VoLTE doesn’t change anything
I’d like to provide some results as well from an area pretty well covered by 5G.
Anyone knows of an app or command to return a detailed summary of the mobile radios? Channels in use, driver versions and whatnot.
As my jp2026 works fine wirh 5G on o2 and only 4G on vodafone i verified with providers lte and 5G bands here and they are same. It must be something wrong in modem config in JP2026 as the harware is capable to hanhle 5G bands in eu.
also SF on xperia10V running fine 5G on vodafone where JP does not, but it is different modem so different modem config
so problem should not be hw or system, but modem config in JP2026
With the blau.de carrier (Telefónica) in Germany, my JP2026 stays connected to 5G in some places. Sometimes, the 5G icon appears briefly or shows up when I use mobile data, which seems intentional. Otherwise, I have rock-solid 4G.
I literally full of love for your differing experience and and seriously respect the wonderful community flag. But let me humbly point out that 5G works.
As @lupastro already pointed out: ymmv. I had better speed rates with 5G and worse. In the end it is not your cell alone. Others might use their phones nearby.

i’ve just made a speed test in a place where my jolla phone 2026 displays 5G. I got 734 Mb/s download speed.
Which provider, which country, which area? It’s already been established that some Jolla phones can manage 5G and others can’t.
near Toulouse, France, sfr.
Stockholm near Globen: 300Mbps peak but very oscillating.
Provider Hallon (3 backbone).
It’s a cheap subscription so I’m probably capped.

I can only get 2.5G in Emilia Romagna with Fastweb 
Solid 5G in Manchester on 3UK.
Unfortunately, I’m unable to get a 5G connection with my new Jolla, which was a rather disappointing surprise.
I’ve tested two different operators in Sweden — Hallon (Tre/3 network) and Tele2 — but the Jolla only connects via 4G.
For comparison, I tested several other phones at exactly the same location, and all of them have a strong 5G connection: OnePlus 8T, Google Pixel 7 Pro, and Nothing Phone (3).
This makes me suspect that the issue may be related to the modem firmware or carrier configuration in the Jolla. Perhaps the modem firmware needs to be updated to support a broader range of carriers and their 5G configurations.
I hope this can be investigated and addressed in a future update, as 5G support is something I expected to work with the new Jolla.
