Hello everyone. I’ve recently noticed an issue with the camera on my Jolla Phone 2026. The camera produces pronounced lens/barrel distortion near the edges of the image. Straight lines, such as door frames, become visibly curved when positioned towards the corners or edges of the frame. The distortion is much less noticeable near the centre of the image, suggesting that lens-distortion correction is either insufficient or not being applied correctly. Has anyone else experienced the same issue? Is it possibly hardware-related, and if so, might replacing the camera lens help? Or is this more likely to be a software/lens-correction issue?
Very pronounced, totally normal for a wide angle but completely uncorrected, here’s a comparison shot with the iPhone 15 wide. Probably an easy fix though.
You’re absolutely correct! Indeed, the problem described by me applies to photos taken at 0.5x, but at 1.0x the are no more crurved corners. I should’ve examined it more carefully. Thanks!
The built-in camera app doesn’t correct for lens distortions, but I have no problems with any Android camera apps like Secure Camera by GrapheneOS on the Aurora store.
