How can SimPro be installed om jolla phone 2026?

Downloading it from OpemRepos and then trying to install gives an error

You could download it directly from the OpenRepos page and try installing it with pkcon.
Perhaps this will show a more descriptive error message:

Tried to install the harbour-simpro.
Becuase of the fatal error tried to install the lpac
Because of the fatal error tried to install the provided pcsc-lite
Because of the fatal error tried to install the provided pcsc-ccid
And that also gives a fatal error.

Seems to me some (linux) libraries are missing on Jolla Phone 2026.

For pcsc libraries you need chum repo added. For lpac, you need chum repo or juanro49 openrepos repo added. Add them before install SimPro

If you’re okay with that I could additionally bundle the RPMs into the SimPro repo so issues like that don’t happen any more.

Personally I not mind playing around with command lines, but for mainstream adoption it should be ‘click and install’

That’s a good option; another is to add the instructions for adding those repos to the spec file, or even to add SimPro to chum How to add an app to Chum?

Ok, managed to download Chum GUI installer. After that install lpac, and SimPro.

Unfortunately SimPro is somehow not able to read my 9eSim via the 9eSim cardreader in the USB-c. The 9eSim combination does work in my realme C85 5G

As the led on the cardreader is intermittent on/off when connected to the Jolla (it is continuously on on the realme), I suspect some power issue. Anywhere I can find info in a log e.g. ?

Interesting. In my case it’s the opposite. Management doesn’t work through the SIM-card slot, but no issues with external 9esim cardreader on Jolla Phone 2026

I did not even try the simcard slot, as it does not support eSim (afaik). One difference might be : I don’t have any sim in the phone yet. I already noticed that GPS can’t fix without sim inserted. Maybe the external adapter also cannot work without sim inserted in one of the slots

Now I have tried again. Seems if I open the menu, then insert the adapter, and quickly click SimPro to start, it now also runs on my phone.
This way to start SimPro I did not try before.

Starting SimPro and only then insert the adapter won’t work. SimPro will not refresh(?) or show the adapter with the eSim.

So now I know how to get SimPro to see the adapter.

What phone? Works in both my Xperia 10 II and III.

Jolla Phone 2 (2026). It has no eSim support on the builtin sim slots.

You can with a physical esim adapter.

As documented above in this thread you can either use lpac (using the command line) from Chum or the app SimPro by @cypherpunks to manage the loading/selection of esims with the adapter
