Discussion about Türkiye

Turkiye is Asia, not Europe.

97% Turkiye land is in Asia. Their culture is not european either.

Well debatable stance and maybe we shouldn’t go down that rapid hole, but have to at least say that 10-15% of population lives inside European continent. Culturally looking as a outsider I wouldn’t draw a big difference culturally to Greece for example. Now big rhetorical question would be what even is European culture (let’s not answer to that here)….

not judging the culture but it is classified in Europe in many international classifications (e.g. see IMF, OECD)

Yea, you wrote that in your first comment and I didn’t disagree with that. But if you we draw line to that I wouldn’t still say that Türkiye is “Asian” culture as that doesn’t mean anything. If someone says country X is part of Asian culture I would think something like Japan/Korea/China. European culture is super vague also term, wouldn’t you say? There is very little anything culturally common between Finland and Italy/Greece for example. Türkiye could maybe be said to be part of Mediterranean culture? All those countries share similarities, especially the ones that are inside European continent.

@pherjung thank you for keeping the threads clean <3 sorry that I answered off topic, but nice to discuss this topic in own thread.

What’s the point for SFOS anyway?

Truly nothing. I think the conversation got started after claim that C2 is European as it is made by Reeder in Türkiye.
