Disable ipv6 for VPN connections

Hello everyone, how to disable ipv6 because my Surfshark vpn does not support it. Thank you.

Or by the NetworkManager.

Under the Settings / Mobile Network, one can change the Data access point protocol to use “IP” instead of “Dual”

Thank you. I’ll try tonight.

After that, the DNS leaks checker should show “no leak detected”. At least this is what I have on my phones :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I just did it, but I still have ipv6 enabled and I can’t connect to my vpn.

I use exactly these settings with Telia in Finland and SFR in France with no issue to use Surfshark continuously. No ipv6 enable.
Try to disable/enable the SIM or to restart the device.

I managed to disable ipv6 but no connection to Surfshark. I go to work, I’ll see tonight, thank you.

It works without installing the Surfshark app, I went through:settings: Sailfish: add a vpn and I set up my configuration files with openvpn, I chose my locations and it’s all good.

:joy: indeed! There are posts about this explaining why it wont work if one uses the Android app. Glad you figured how to use the built-in vpn :+1:

And if set it up under settings - VPN you can choose advandes settings and turn off IP6 leaks…in case, only IP4 get’s rerouted.

In fact, I did as under my Mint I configured the vpn with the openvpn config files according to the chosen locations without having to install Surfshark which is not too designed to run with microG. I open the vpn under sailfish and I choose my location. And no more leaks since I disabled ipv6.

And that was the right thing to do. None of the Android VPN app will work on SailfishOS.
