I could imagine buying it if it was a regular SFOS phone in this form factor and not something thatā€™s bolted shut to prevent you from even running a browser.

I somehow feel like its not going to be a problem enabling stuff like the browser and email.

So now Jolla is making a deal with this brand and spending money on the button phone / feature phone sector, really? Is this serious? Ah, whatever, Iā€™m not going to talk. I hope theyā€™re not putting the profits/investments coming from the Jolla J2 into this.

I am reading negative comments already from.the want-it-all crowd.

Itā€™s a bold proposition which requires an attentive buyer (which does not come as standard today). Could be my sonā€™s first deviceā€¦ now Jolla, double up and provide a desktop tie-up for both the Sailfish community and the Commodore crowdā€¦

(ground-based users would be happy to follow I guessā€¦:wink: )

Their press release reads more like Commodore approached them to license their OS, so more likely Commodore is spending money with Jolla, not the other way round.

why do you think Jolla is spending money on this ?? This is made by Commodoreā€¦ Look at their website, SFOS is barely mentioned and Jolla not at all.

SFOS is not exclusive for phablets and never was, there were experiments with wearables and products for cars so why not a button phone.

Also if you remember the SFOS lineage, Meego was meant to be on many more devices, TizenOS is actually a brother/cousin of SFOS.

The button phone / feature phone sector is a dead market. Its buyer base is not Gen Z or Gen Alpha; itā€™s more for the 90s era. In that sense, itā€™s said that they are not spending money on it, so thatā€™s good. I hope Jolla doesnā€™t put all its money into this area.

Apparently the touchscreen is allowed for apps that require touchscreen to work.

Iā€™m quite confident Jolla isnā€™t putting any money here on the table, but they should be gaining money :slight_smile: Like with the automotive sector, AAS is used for some automotive softwares, which brings money to Seafarix (sister company from Jolla). This is very good news as I didnā€™t know any other company currently licensing Sailfish :slight_smile:

There are millions of older people out there with a lot of disposable income.
