Can't open specific pdf file in Documents app

If I open a specific pdf file in Documents app it’ll say “Broken file – Cannot read the PDF document” while the file will be displayed in the file preview feature of the File Browser app correctly.

PRECONDITIONS:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Download pdf file from here.
  2. Open file in Documents app

EXPECTED RESULT:

Pdf file should be displayed correctly.

ACTUAL RESULT:

Documents app shows the error message: Broken file – Cannot read the PDF document

AFAIK the pdf file has been generated by the print to pdf method on Windows 10 or 11.

Cannot reproduce. Try removing it and downloading it again - it might have gotten aborted.

File should be exactly 29577 bytes.

Confirmed, file opens fine here.

Might it be a Sailjail issue where it is downloaded to a location Documents can’t access?

Very good point, that’s probably the issue.

You are right. After copying the file into the Document directory it is opened and displayed correctly.
But the directory from where the file isn’t opened is also in my home directory.

Only the well-known XDG “capitalized” directories are allowed/-able - home in general is not.

Then the “Broken file” message is misleading.

I’ll remove the pdf file from the server as it isn’t related to the issue.

You seriously ask us to download an obviously corrupted PDF?

We have got a lot if attention from a variety of very diverse people here. Let’s be more careful.

No, it wasn’t obvious to me. In fact I never assumed the file to be corrupted as I could open it with File Browser and Evince on XFCE. I expected an issue with the Documents app but was taught otherwise.
Actually the file is a printout from this software.
