Browser default search engine ignored - it always uses google

DESCRIPTION:

Setting default search engine (in browser settings → Search on) to anything other than google is ignored.
Searching for something in the browser address bar always searches using google no matter what default I set in settings.

PRECONDITIONS:

None

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. change default search engine in browser settings → Search on to Bing
  2. open new tab
  3. type some text in address bar and hit enter

EXPECTED RESULT:

Bing should be used to search for the typed text

ACTUAL RESULT:

Google is used instead of bing to search for the typed text

MODIFICATIONS:

None

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

I can’t make a video capture, so I have nothing useful to attach

Does it work with duckduckgo?

No. I tried it before posting this bug report.
I explicitly mentioned Bing to have a concrete example from the built-in options.

Why do you ask?
Does duckduckgo work for you, but bing does not?
