Browser | credentials are stored but not used

REPRODUCIBILITY: yes
OS VERSION: 5.0.0.62
HARDWARE: Xperia 10 II
UI LANGUAGE: DE
REGRESSION: yes

DESCRIPTION:

Since 5.0.0.x with the new browser I can not login into websites with BasicAuth. When entering the credentials and selecting “Save them”, the browser does not try to login with the provided credentials. But when the “Save” option is not selected then the login steps works (but without saving the credentials, so forced to enter it every time).

Its seems that the credentials are stored but not used. Not after the first usage and not after further consecutive visits of the same website. This also explains why the new browser did not used the available credentials in the password store that worked in the browser before the update to SFOS 5.x.

Webview apps are also affected …

PRECONDITIONS:

Website that uses Basic Auth for login

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Visit site
  2. Enter credentials and select “save them”
  3. Visit site again

EXPECTED RESULT:

reusage of provided credentials (prefilled form)

ACTUAL RESULT:

credentials are requested again without form fields filled up

MODIFICATIONS:

None

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

It seems the credentials are saved into browser key vault but not used …

I can reproduce (of course, you need to set up a site with Basic Auth, which may be a bit of a faff).
I can also add that if you make a mistake in the user/password, you’ll need to close the tab and open it again.

SFOS already has reduced support for a productive use per se, but without the ability to use saved credentials in the browser, productive use is practically non-existent. Having to enter the details every time is crazy.
@jovirkku I would appreciate it if a fix would be prioritized! Thank you!
