Atlantic Browser Feedback thread

With viewport zooming working, it’s excellent! It DOES seem noticeably slower to move around pages than the system browser, however. Not unusable or even jarring, but it’s something you can feel as you pan or scroll pages.

Also there’s a specific quirk with the layout engine, it seems, which manifests on ChatGPT.com. You can scroll way down past the last message, which normally doesn’t happen on other browsers. Don’t know what would cause this, but maybe it has other implications for other sites.

I like this browser a lot. Saved passwords export/import would be big plus.

Could you share a screenshot of the issue ? (I have not yet received my J2  )

IA can be the most helpful thing in a session that the most useless thing ever. It’s quite strange and keep me on my toes :stuck_out_tongue:

I did try ChatGPT on the browser (without an account) but didn’t see anything different from my Android phone (Brave).

Could you share a screenshoot ?

My goal would be to have KeePass database support, the current iteration is just a first step.

Kagi should work if it supports the OpenSearch API.

Here is an example. The messages should be at the bottom near the text input. Basically there’s a bunch of strange empty space.

Edit: what also isn’t really evident from a screenshot is that you can scroll this up and down. It should not even be possible to scroll on this page, since there’s only two messages.

Basic browser functionality is good. I cannot save any passwords manually somehow. But it’s ok. Keepass and Birtwarden support would be useful. Thanks for your effort.

I cannot seem to log in to reddit (the keyboard doesn’t come out when I try to type in my credentials). Is this a know issue?

I noticed that one service is listed as not found:

● atlantic-cpu-governor.service
    not-found inactive dead atlantic-cpu-governor.service
find / -name 'atlantic-cpu*' -exec ls -l {} \;
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            53 Aug 14 21:28 /etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/atlantic-cpu-governor.service -> /usr/lib/systemd/system/atlantic-cpu-governor.service

That’s a broken symlink.
In other words, the Atlantic package did not install that service but somehow still created the symlink for it?

I tried to uninstall, then reinstall - it remains the same.
It doesn’t do anything so there’s no harm I guess but this could point to bigger problems in how the systemd stuff is handled.

Also, when I uninstall Atlantic, it leaves a lot of stuff behind

find / -xdev -name '*atlantic*'
/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/atlantic-cpu-governor.service
/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/atlantic-browser-memory.service
/etc/systemd/system/timers.target.wants/atlantic-memory-reclaim.timer
/opt/wpe-sfos/libexec/atlantic
/usr/share/atlantic-browser
/usr/lib64/atlantic-browser
/usr/libexec/atlantic

Most are empty directories but again, the systemd stuff. One of those services even still shows up as active:

● atlantic-browser-memory.service
         not-found active exited atlantic-browser-memory.service

All the cruft is still there after a full reboot.

Hi,
This sounds really interesting

I tried to install Atlantic 1.1.0 (aarch64) on a 10iii with 5.1.0.11 but it reports a “problem with installing”; nothing more.

Is there a log I can check to see what’s stopping the install?

Maybe I missed it somewhere in this thread: in default I can choose to search with Google or Brave, can I add DuckDuckGo as search engine? It’s so, how?

you can choose between these by default in the settings:

I do not seem to have this option

now I saw the video and solution, thanks @sanginteret. Great work

Thanks for your incredible job, I’ve been chilling with this browser a lot. However, I encountered a problem, when I type a website like 9to5linux.com, the verification kept looping again and again, I couldn’t passthrough the “verify you are human” box in this site, not sure there’re another sites with these verification like this.

Strangely, I do not have this verification at all with that site.
A forced dark theme on all websites would be great…I miss this option frequently
Edit: just saw the extensions from Mozilla.org. Sorry for the confusion
Grear implementation!!

Very good progress with Atlantic browser. One important thing is, that web links from another app cannot be opened even you select Atlantic browser. Stock browser works with it but I would like to open links to Atlantic browser.
