Assessing interest in an educational app for kids

A while ago I wrote an app that can help with financial education of kids.

It’s a pretend play terminal with two modes: one where you can pay with any NFC tag (including real payment cards) and it always succeeds, great for general pretend play.

The other mode is possible with a NFC tag which is initialized by the app and it keeps actual balance, pin code, setting for when the terminal asks for a pin code etc. and IMO a great financial education tool. Or just for more realistic gameplay.

The app is written as a webapp and due to the limited availability of WebNFC it’s pretty much available only on Chrome in Android.

Would there be an interest for a native app for this? Or is there no audience for such app?

If someone wants to test it, it’s available at https://app.term.chrastecky.dev (Chrome/Android only) with source code not yet released (can’t remember why, probably just forgot).

  • I would use such app
  • I have no use for such app

I voted no - I have no kids

Still I think it’s always worthwhile to develop such “niche” apps.

Thanks for asking.
Kids already paying IRL, with their iphones, not anymore with the “your pirated phones” they had from me.
I must have missed some educational steps :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Well, I wasn’t saying that you can’t do without, just that it might help teaching them the concept of money at a younger age (e.g. before they’re old enough to have their own smartphone or bank account).

Also good for pretend play, not only educational.

Oh, no, by “I missed some educational steps”, I was talking about their Iphones instead of SFOS ones.
I think they would have liked a paying app, as they played shop a lot with a fake till.
