Appsupport - Installing apps from Aurora sometimes causes them to install forever

REPRODUCIBILITY: Always
OS VERSION: 5.2.0.18
HARDWARE: JPhone
UI LANGUAGE: German
REGRESSION: Unknown

DESCRIPTION:

It appears the appsupport sometimes puts aurora store into an infinite “installing” state. The “Cancel” button on aurora is grayed out, so there is no mean to abort the installation. Reboot doesnt help. This has happened to me at least two times, with two apps (Pikku Kakkonen on 5.2.0.17 and Mobile Pay now on 5.2.0.18).

PRECONDITIONS:

Unknown

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Try to install Pikku kakkone app from Aurora store

EXPECTED RESULT:

The installation completes.

ACTUAL RESULT:

The installation never completes, aurora store thinks its still installing the relative app even after a reboot

What’s the best way to debug this?

Well logs are gathered with appsupport-attach logcat, that should be a first step.

I’ve had this happen a couple of times, I’ll try to get logs if I catch it next time.

My workaround is to open the specific app page in the Aurora Store (either by searching or tapping the icon in the update page and then tapping Details), cancel the install/update, then tap update/install again.

yes, in my case the Cancel button from the app s page is disabled / unresponsive.
Also, the confirmation popup is really there only a secondas a non-modal.. if you dont click it precisely, it will go away and never come back…

For instance, with MobilePay I got a call in the middle of the install; of course because of that I missed the popup. I got the notification on the event view, but selecting it does not bring the popup back..

Have you tried to delete the downloaded install file, from the download inside Aurora?

I had the same issue with one app that got stuck in the spinning install. After removing the file and start the download fresh, it installed as intended.

It happened to me several times too. Typically it is when I did not accept the installation pop-up because I was doing something else on my phone at that moment. To be able to install the apps, I needed to reinit the Aurora store (i.e. Clear app data).

I had that happen recently too. I was able to fix the problem by deleting the file from the Downloads folder.

I dont think that this is an AppSupport bug. That happened to me on Android as well.

I would say its tagged appsupport more because its not native (aurora store is an android app as well, in the end)
