I would love to have an audio player where you can set a sleep time that still finishes the track (eg for hearing an audio book to bed)

They dont workā€¦ None of themā€¦ Tailfish is the closest, but the sleep time integration doesnt work anymore and it doesnt work with multiple audiobooks (I like to shuffle between 3 books randomly as the story is basically nonexisten and its basically short stories)

There is a web app to do that work partially. That might be utilized for that work.

You can use Talefish with the Slumber sleep timer app, but unfortunately you need to get them from the right places: Is Slumber maintained? - #8 by jojomen

I have tried Tailfish, but I have two grapes with it, besides it not working together with slumber and being a couple years without updates:

  1. It only plays the content of 1 folder - I cant say take this folder and everything thats in it and play. I have multiple folders where my audio is sorted in and I want to listen to all of them with shuffle
  2. The not integrated slumber timer does not stop after it run out and the track finished playing - it stops the track instantly after the set time
    All of this Phocid manages great

Ok, weā€™re interpreting the word integrated differently. I meant it in the system sense, but I think you want a sleep timer integrated into a player app.

Porting from Android to Sailfish is non-trivial, unless an app has a significant non-UI core made in a language (and version) also available on Sailfish.

At this point I think you should approach the author of Talefish (or any other audio app you like better) and Slumber with feature requests. Adding multi-folder playback and play-to-end to existing apps seems more viable to me than developing a new app with mostly overlapping features.

(And I would like play-to-end to be optional, as I have some audio books that are several hours long.)

I wouldnā€™t worry too much about that. Once Sailfish apps are ā€œmatureā€, they tend to work well for years after the latest update.

This could be done in a separate app which controls all apps which expose the media in a standard way, think of what happens when you disconnect a bluetooth headset - the same principle could be used for the app and it would be universal.

Btw working on the music sleep timer. I have the daemon more or less ready, I just need to package it and provide a gui to control it.

Iā€™d love if someone took over/forked the Quartermaster Home Assitant app. Iā€™m a bit jealous for the OpenHAB folks for the nice looking app. :roll_eyes: Not that much so that Iā€™d switch from HA to OpenHAB, though. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

OpenRepos now also has ā€˜Lugarā€™, but thatā€™s only meant for lights and switches, and reading temperature sensors and such. Depending on your use cases, it could be enough. Although the author hasnā€™t (yet?) provided any source code, as far as I can see.

Oh! Thanks for the hint! I mostly control lights and check temperatures. Lately if Iā€™ve needed to change something, I just open my laptop. So a more simpe app could actually work. :thinking: Iā€™ll have to see what kind of states are available - one I check is waste collection schedule, really handy!

i can make the openhab app even nicer to convince you to switch to openhab, hahahahahaā€‹:joy::joy:

P.S. i played around in another app with voice control (tab to speak AND with wakeword - set timer, clock alert on phone and so on. and also send voice commands to openhab via that app. if you switch to openhab then i promise to finish the app and release itšŸ˜œ
