Android apps freeze randomly

REPRODUCIBILITY: Intermittently
OS VERSION: 4.4.0.68
HARDWARE: Xperia XA2 H4113
UI LANGUAGE: Danish
REGRESSION: Yes

DESCRIPTION:

Android apps such as e.g. the BirdNET app freeze randomly. I have to stop and start Android App support from the settings menu. It may be that it is simply android app support that crashed in the background.

PRECONDITIONS:

None in particular?

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

This is an intermittent problem, but for instance …

  1. Start BirdNET app
  2. Tap the “Record” button to record a bird sound

EXPECTED RESULT:

After having recorded the bird sound, I should be able to tap “Analyze” to send the sound file to the server for analysis.

ACTUAL RESULT:

The app freezes so I cannot send the recorded sound file to the server for analysis.

MODIFICATIONS:

I have microG Services installed, if that may mean anything.

Is your app use GPS? Did you try disabke GPS?
In my case, every app, wich use GPS , always freeze android , when try search GPS signal

Interesting. I did not make that connection. But yes, it does use the GPS. The problem is that it needs to use the GPS. With e.g. the BirdNET app, the bird sound cannot be analyzed without information about the location where the sound was recorded.
