Android App Support - "No apps can perform this action"

Hi All
Wanted to ask you on your opinion on this issue.
When I try to change the ringtone in an android app (any messenger), I get “No apps can perform this action”. I guess SFOS app support is lacking the respective ringtone picker.
Has anyone been able to fix this / is there any workaround / app one can install to get a custom picker?

The fix is to accept the limitations of AAS.

Why on doG’s Brown Earth should we have the option to pick ringtones from within Android when SFOS has ringtones already? Please do NOT answer; I’m sure you have some reasonable-sounding explanation at the ready; but the point is: Android on SFOS is not the same as Android on bare metal, and I for one hope it never will be.

The amount of people who, instead of enjoying their brand new hardware running a full alternative mobile operating system, nitpick its Android emulation features, is staggering. Sorry my ire hit you in full force. You’re just a stand-in for dozens of new users.

You are the prime example of why adoption of open source isn’t as far as it should be. I am at a loss of words at your ignorance. We need to ensure that the entry hurdles for people are as low as possible to gain adoption and ensure SFOS is a success.

This question wasn’t asking for your opinon on if it should or shouldnt be doing this, it was a question of improving the lives of potentially a lot of new users during their transition away from Google.
I am rather technically adapt and might figure out a solution on my own, other users might just go back to Android after being exposed to your toxicity. Go be upset somewhere else and let’s keep this forum productive and well mannered.

As far as I know there is no way around this currently. AAS is not open source, so it is a wrinkle we’ll live with for now.

If run into the same issue, where signal calls dont ring because of no selected ringtone in AAS and it really bothers me, but yeah. Not something that I was able to fix

Next you’re going to talk about Linux’ “market share” and The Year Of The Linux Desktop Phone.

Or get sad because somebody suggested using the terminal.

This is just a specialised form of customer mentality.

I’ve seen so many waves of it in the past dozen years, and the people talking like that are never the ones who really bring FOSS forward.

Privacy means: there are( and must be) roadblocks for info flow.
If AAS had free flow of info what would be the difference to android phone?
All data freely available to all kind of mallware. ?

The control of the roadblocks is an other question. On the other hand making possible to open all things would mean: " I have a privacy oriented phone and LOOK WHAT IT DID"

Ringtones may look like small, but many times getting some piece of info shared actually opens a bigger “hole” .

Say: Cheese…
