The “Android App Support” (Android version 11 API level 30) runs on my Sony Xperia 10, but after updating to Sailfish OS version 5.0, it no longer works properly: it starts the device, but after a short time (maybe 30 seconds), it shuts down. The result: Android apps launch, then unexpectedly minimize, wait for the app support to restart, and then crash. Uninstalling the app support and reinstalling it didn’t help. All Android apps have become unusable, and there aren’t alternatives for everything. Does anyone have any ideas for a solution?
(If my problem is in the wrong category, please let me know.)
I think it would make it more clear what is the exact issue if you would provide logs. Please check the page on the wiki (the Android section). It might also be required to enable developer mode and use the terminal application or ssh into the phone from computer.
Same problem happened a few days ago. I knew trying to investigate would be long and difficult, so I backed up to sdcard and reinstalled Sailfish to my Xperia 10ii and I’m glad I did. Android support is all working again and for now, the device feels snappier to use. There’s 5 hours of my life I won’t see again.
A further 2 hours then spent getting SDK to run with the newly installed phone, which resulted in a fresh SDK install.
