Why? Could you not just tap on the star to make it a favourite?

What is the point in adding each and every newly added contact to the favorites?

Besides having Favourite contacts slows down the Contacts view a lot.

I have only one one favorite contact and it’s my mother. Onlÿ she can disturb me at night on case of emergency.

What is the point of every new contact being a recent one? Wouldn’t you want “recent”s to represent who you genuinely interact often with, and if you know that you want one of the new contacts you are adding will be important, then you add them to favourites.

Not a terrible idea!
Honestly; why shouldn’t the act of adding a contact count as an interaction with said contact.
From an implementation point of view i definitely see how it doesn’t count - but from the human side of things, that too is very much an interaction.

It is not frequent contacts - it is recent contacts.
Sure, it kind of breaks if you add loads of contacts in one go - but does anyone actually do that?

Maybe there is a feature request hiding here too? (Selectable recent/frequent).
Unfortunately i don’t think people could handle/comprehend a pure frequent-mode in the “call log” - but perhaps in the People app.

Because I have just added a contact, and I want to make use of it right away without searching for the newly added.

Current interaction model assumes user first calls an incognito number, and adds it to the contacts afterwards. (Edit: I was proved wrong here by Attah) Still even if the number was not turned into a contact the number ends up in the Recent list. The opposite is not true, one needs to search for the freshly added contact to use it.

This isn’t actually true.
When you have completed adding a contact you are at the page for that contact, and ready to place a call.

It is only when you get interrupted and do something else in-between that the proposed feature adds something.

If and only if you navigated away from the contact page when done adding it.

But a good suggestion none the less. It reminds me of 10 years ago when SFOS was really giving iOS a run for its money when it came to UX polish.

(Also, i can see how the “added” event showing up in contact history could come in handy).

Same meaning, different words…

This is why favourites exists…

Since favourites are allowed to overrule the do not disturb mode with messages and calls there definitely is a point in distinguishing between recent and favourites

People keep mentioning this, but I see no difference in my experience. Perhaps a settings toggle to tweak that behaviour, assuming it’s real?

IMO, there is no point in “forcing” a contact into the a “recent” category; although I admit that it wouldn’t bother me so much, except for the fact that it would be yet another option in a long-press menu or similar.

No, those are most definitely different words with separate meanings.

In general I am full up to my neck with any Os/ App what ever re-arranging things making new lists based on ubique things. Either user self marks/ tags/ moves or keep as is.
Sailfish should be free from these stupid things or atleast std setting off and only if wanted activated
