[4.0.1.48] general Email account problem [solved]

REPRODUCIBILITY (% or how often): 100%
BUILD ID = OS VERSION (Settings > About product): 4.0.1.48
HARDWARE (XA2, Xperia 10…): Jolla C
UI LANGUAGE:English
REGRESSION: (compared to previous public release: Yes, No, ?):

DESCRIPTION:

I have two Email accounts. I had to enter credentials for both after upgrading the system, but only one is working. The other one always comes back after sync with: “Account needs to be updates - General email -…”
Over and Over.
I also do not see a chance to check the settings, as they are not shown - this is IMHO a big drawback in terms of a UI…

PRECONDITIONS:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. enter credentials to the general email account
  2. sync this account
  3. wait until message “Account needs to be updates - General email -…” is shown

EXPECTED RESULT:

Credentials should be stored secure and persistent

ACTUAL RESULT:

Sync works only for 1 of 2 email acccounts

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

(Please ALWAYS attach relevant data such as logs, screenshots, etc…)

Delete that account and configured it as a new one.

What kind of feedback is this?
Same as do a reflash?

Of course one can always set up everything from scratch but that is not the expected behaviour.

Please do not feel offended ( if I did not find the right words).
But this bug is out there for ages and “irritates” me.

To be honest, in this kind of situation I think it’s solid advice, because it’s quick and easy and you won’t lose anything. I had the same problem years ago. I spent maybe a minute deleting the broken account and creating a new one with the same credentials, and it’s all been working fine ever since.

Yes, of course.

As there is no bug fixing this is the only way to work around this.
(as commented above maybe my wording was poorly chosen …)

The problem disappeared: I entered the credentials, and without using them, I rebooted the device.
Afterwards mails were synced from both accounts.

No need to enter everything again.

BTW. why is there no chance/UI to alter the account settings?

Disappeared:
You mean like this?

Alter account settings:
Settings - Accounts - YourMailAccount - then use pulley menu ‘Server settings’

Settings - Accounts - YourMailAccount - then use pulley menu ‘Server settings’

This is not available if not signed-in.
And if singing-in does not work because of other reasons (e.g. change in password-policy) your stuck. And you cannot read-out other parameter to delete and recreate your account.
